1st X1 Results 2011

Steeton v Calverley 16.4.2011

Saturday saw the 1st xl pick up 2 points at Steeton. Steeton batted first making 286 for 5 B.Waller taking 2 wickets on his first game back since re joining from Hall Park, he was helped by his opening bowler partner Tom Simpson who also took 2 wickets.
In reply Calverley made 239 for 4. Charuka Rajarathana made 103 on his league debut for the club supported by Shaggy 53 not out Ben Waller 35 not out (capping a good day for him) and Si Curry 27.

23.04.2011 Tong Park Esholt at home

1st Xl pick up 4 points at home to Tong Park Esholt, Calverley batted 1st scoring 222 for 7 S. Curry 37, C. Rajarathna 43, J.Thornhill 52 and Bash 29 not out. In reply Tong Park Esholt scored 188 for 7 Shaggy 5 for 54

30.04.2011 North Leeds Away

The 1st team picked up 1 point away to North Leeds and continued there unbeaten start to the season.

North Leeds batted first reaching a total of 247 for 9 shaggy 4 for 61 and Andy 2 for 41. In reply Calverley made 174 for 8 not helping themselves with 2 run outs but recovered well in the end B.Waller 37 not out Si Curry 30 and Bones 27.

Saturday 7.5.11

1st xl vs Olicanian Home

The 1st xl suffered defeat at the hands of Olicanian. On a delayed start due to rain Calverley were put in to bat with Olicanian bowlers dismiising Calverley for 103. Julian Thornhill top scoring with 43. In reply Olicanian chased down the total for the loss of just 3 wickets. 104 for 3.

14.05.2011 KNARESBROUGH AWAY
Knaresbrough batted first and although some tidy bowling early on from Ben Waller 8 overs for 31 Knaresbrough soon climbed in to our attack and scored 299 for 2 .
Calverley changed the batting order to chase down 299 with Bash and Jules opening. Bash soon went for 0 and Charuka going early for 3. Jules (72) and shaggy (62) put on a hundred but Knaresbrough tota was too much. Calverley hung on for a point 202 for 9.

Saturday 21st May Pool Home
I a close game The 1st xl lost to Pool on the last ball of the game. Calverley batting 1st got of to a bad start being 1 for 1 bones(0). Calverley recovered with Jules and Si Curry putting on 50. Calverley then lost wickets and found themselves 139 for 7 before Immy 44 and Ben Waller 51 took Calverley to 217 for 9. Pool looked to be cruising at 130 for 1 and then 172 for 3 before Ben runnign out the Poll skipper and Shaggy taking quick wickets(4) had Pool at 215 for 8 going in to the last over> Another wicket from shaggy and some dot balls meant Pool needed 2 to win off the last ball with the last man in. Shaggy bowled it and 6 runs later Pool snatched victory.
Sunday 22 nd May Cup
Calverley shocked 1st division Kirkstall by knocking them out of the Cup with a fantastic performance. Kirkstall batting 1st made 264 for 6 leaving Calverley a challenging total to chase.
Si Curry 32 Charuka 34 and Andy 36 got Calverley on the way before Ben continued his good form hitting 67 not out in quick time and Bash getting some overdue runs of 79 not out seeing Calverley home to victory.

Saturday 28th May

Bolton Villas away The 1st xl suffered defeat to Bolton Villas. Batting first Bolton Villas made 211 for 7 Thom Simpson picking up 4 for 50.
In reply Calverley looked liked they would get 2 points at 150 for 6 but then were bowled out for 167. Si Curry 23, Charuka 37 and Bash 41 offered resistance.

Saturday 4th June Upper Wharfedale Home
Calveley pulled out of the bag a tremendous performance to gain Maxumum points in a feisty game against Upper Wharfedale. Calverley batting 1st made an impressive 305 FOR 6 ,J Thornhill 120, Charuka Rajarthna 51, I Mirza 55, G.Lee 21
In Reply Upper Wharfedale were bowled out for 191 B.Waller 3 FOR 31, T.Simpson 2 for 28, C,Rajarthna 3 for 24.

23.04.2011 Colton away

The 2nds gained 2 points away to Colton. Colton batted 1st and scored 223 for 9 Willy 5 for 51 and P.Howker 2 for 60. In reply Calverley made 209 for 9 M.Sugden 57, M.Ward 32, T.Westerman 32 N.Panesar 25 not out.

30.04.2011 Skipton Home

After winning the toss Calverley put Skipton in to bat leaving 10 other Calverley players gobsmacked. On a absolute road in the park Skipton made 249 for 6. In reply Calverley chased down this total with 7 overs to spear Wardy hitting a superb 152 supported by ginner 50. Both ginner and Wardy put on a 216 partnership while ginners opening partner Suggy (1) 3rd ball got splinters from sitting on the bench watching them cash in on a good deck. Chris West 10 not out and Daz 16 not out finished of the job for a much needed 6 points.

2nd xl New Rover Away
The 2nd xl picked up 5 points at New Rover. In a 43 over a side game Calverley were put in to bat and made a steady start. Suggy and Ginner putting on 55 for the 1st wicket before Ginner was caught behind on 24. Chris West came in to score a quick (27) and then Tom Westerman and Suggy again put on 50 before Suggy was bowled for 59. Tom Westerman went on to make his maiden senior 50 reaching (57) and Calverley reached 211 for 7.
In reply New Rover made 148 for 3 some tidy bowling by Calverley early on by Tom Westerman and Ralphy kept pushing the run rate up before Alex West Willy and Howks kept New Rover down below 159 to secure 5 points. Fielding point was awarded to Beaney and Tom Westerman

2nd xl 14.05.2011 Addingham Home

The 2nds lost to Addingham on Saturday owed more to Calverley's batting and fielding rather than Addinghams good play. Calverley lost the toss and were bowled out for 124 with Chris West 53 and Tom Westerman 24 the only batters to cope with conditions.Calverley had chances to put pressure on Addingham but 9 drop catches cost them and Addingham reached 124 for 5.


2nd xl v Alwoodly 21.05.2011

Calverley overcome the potential Bannanna Skin of Alwwodly with ease. Stan in Skipper Ginner put Alwoodly in to bat and they were in trouble at 43 for 9 thanks to Tom Westerman 5 for 25 and Ralphy 3 for 34. Alwwodly recovered to 121 all out with Nav picking up the last 2 wickets.
A new opening partnership of the Wests got Calverley off to a good start 104 for 0 with Chris West scoring 51 and Alex West 52 not out. Tom Westerman 8 and Wardy 1 fell before Captain Ginner came in to hit the winning run.
Sunday Kirkstall away Cup 22.05.2011
Calverley turned up with a young team and Batting 1st the new west partnership got off to a good start 67 for 0 before Alex went for 23. Chris continued his good form making 80 supported by Will Hardaker 44 and Calverley reached 215 for 7. Kirstalls batting got off to a good start at 66 for 0 and then 164 for 1 looked like they would pass Calverley's total with ease. Good fielding and some excellent catches saw Calverley drag Calverley back in the game. Kirstall slumped to 187 for 7 Howks 3 for 22 and Beaney 2 for 47. Kirstall managed to hang on and pass Calverley total with 4 overs to spare.

Saturday 28th May Bolton Villas Home
the 2nd xl pixked up 6 points against Bolton Villas. Batting first on a good deck Bolton Villas were dismissed for 172 thanks to Ralphy 4 for 52 Willy 4 for 38 and Nav Panesar 2 for 38.
In reply Calverley struggled at first being 28 for 2 but then 150 partnership between Chris West 58 not out and Scott Driscoll 100 not out seeing Calverley home. 175 for 2.

Saturday the 4th June 2011 Upper Wharfedale away
Calverley made the long journey to Upper Wharfedale hoping to continue there recent good form. Calverley won the toss on a very green looking pitch and bowled Upper Wharfedale out for 107 t A.Ralph 5 for 47. T.Westerman 2 for 27, A.Benson 2 for 20
In reply Calverley made life very hard for themselves making 111 FOR 7 , C.West 42 A.Simpson 16 and Howks seeing us home with 2 sixes making a valuable 15 not out

U11 Results 2011
Calverley captain E. Horne won the toss and chose to field first. Openers L. Squires and D. Taylor bowled well without taking a wicket until a mix up with the batters allowed H. Thompson to get an easy run out. Bowling at the death J. Bradbury returned excellent figures of 2 overs 2 wickets for only 3 runs. After a brilliant bowling and fielding performance from Calverley North Leeds Ninjas finished their innings on 195.
Calverley got their innings off to flying start with J. Bradbury scoring 15* off 13 balls well supported by H. Thompson. Calverley continued in this form throughout the innings and didn’t lose a wicket until the final pair came into bat, but even with the loss of 2 wickets of E. Horne (16) and M. Wier (8) gave Calverley a match winning score of 265.
